Arthur Cazaux and Tomas Martin Etcheverry meet in the second round of the 2025 Gstaad Open. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16. Here’s our Arthur Cazaux vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry prediction. This preview will also include an Arthur Cazaux vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry pick.

Arthur Cazaux vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry Preview
Arthur Cazaux is unseeded and is ranked 116th in the ATP rankings. He is a former World No. 63 and only began experiencing a ranking slump earlier this year when he took a couple of months off because of injury. The Frenchman is trying to get back into the Top 100 again, and that is not going to be a problem if he can regain the same level he showed in 2024. He is coming off a successful Wimbledon qualifying run, which took him to the second round of the main draw.

At least from what we saw in his opening win, Cazaux has what it takes to get his ranking into double digits very quickly. He beat Nikoloz Basilashvili 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 in nearly three hours. Cazaux saved a late break point to hold for 5-4 in the third set, which he eventually won in a tie-break 7-5. Cazaux hit 16 aces and two double faults in the match. He landed 63% of first serves in play and won 72% of first serve points (52/72). Cazaux won 63% of second serve points (27/43) and saved four of five break points. Cazaux has not reached a quarterfinal at any event since February at the San Diego Challenger. If he is to break this barrier, it will be his first-ever ATP quarterfinal of his young career.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry is the fourth seed in Gstaad. He is currently ranked 58th in the ATP rankings. Etcheverry is a former Top 30 player. This is his third appearance in the ATP 250 event in Gstaad. He was a quarterfinalist last year in which is his best result so far. Etcheverry got a bye in the first round this week for being a seed.

Etcheverry is coming off a shock straight sets loss against Luka Pavlovic at the Braunschweig Challenger, which only adds to the agony of losing his opening match at the 2025 Wimbledon to the British wild card Pinnington Jones. He is now a disappointing 18-23 for the season. And surprisingly, he’s lost 12 of 22 clay-court matches.  He is on a four-match losing run at all levels, with his last win coming at Halle against Andrey Rublev. Etcheverry’s best result for the season was reaching the semifinal in Hamburg just before Roland Garros.

Arthur Cazaux vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry Head-To-Head
Cazaux and Etcheverry have met twice on tour. The Argentine leads 2-0. Etcheverry won their first meeting at the 2023 Bordeaux Challenger in two tight sets and their second meeting at the 2024 French Open lasted four sets. This will be their third successive meeting on clay.

Arthur Cazaux vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry Prediction
Etcheverry has a winning record against Cazaux, but both matches were tight, and the Frenchman should once again prove to be a formidable challenger. The Argentine has experienced a sharp decline in form and results for over a month, and this might be a good time for Cazaux to turn the tables. We’re locking in the sets spread, with both players bagging a set at a tempting +125 odds.

Nur Said's Pick: Over 2.5 sets in the match
