Kamilla Rakhimova vs Tamara Korpatsch Preview
Kamilla Rakhimova is coming off a three-set win over second seed Antonia Ruzic. The match took 31 games to decide and lasted over three hours. Rakhimova dropped a 51-minute first set 6-4, but recovered to win the second set from a break down. She broke Ruzic in successive games and clinched the set 6-3. Ruzic went ahead at the start of the third set with a break, but it was only momentarily as Rakhimova broke back straightaway.
At 5-all, Rakhimova struck to earn the decisive break and fended off a break back point while serving for the match. Overall, Rakhimova hit 4 aces in the win. She landed 74% of first serves in play and won 64% of first serve points (61/95). Rakhimova won 52% of second serve points (17/33) and saved an incredible 13 of 16 break points in the match. This will be Rakhimova’s first final of the season. Her last title win at this level was in Guadalajara last season.
Tamara Korpatsch, meanwhile, secured her spot in the final with a straight-sets win over countrywoman Anna-Lena Friedsam. After upsetting the defending champion Alycia Parks in the quarterfinals, Korpatsch backed up that win against her compatriot in just 80 minutes.
Korpatsch took the first set 6-3, in which she was the only one to break in the fourth game. One break was also what she needed to win the second set 6-4 and book her place in the Angers final for the first time.
Korpatsch hit 2 aces in the win and landed 69% of first serves in play. She won 81% of first serve points (29/36) and saved one break point she faced in the match. This will be Korpatsch’s third final of the season. She won titles at the Trnava 2 ITF and Funchal ITF. Her last title win at this level was in Budapest three years ago.
