Third seed Diana Shnaider will face World No. 71 Alycia Parks in the semifinal of the 2025 Monterrey Open. The match is scheduled for Friday, August 22. Here’s our Alycia Parks vs Diana Shnaider prediction. This preview will also include an Alycia Parks vs Diana Shnaider pick.

Alycia Parks vs Diana Shnaider Preview

Alycia Parks beat Rebecca Sramkova in straight sets to reach her first WTA semifinal since January. Their match took 20 games to decide and lasted an hour and 27 minutes. Parks dominated the first set with her massive serve and sharp returns, hitting five aces and breaking Sramkova three times. The Slovak recovered from a 2-5 deficit to level the score at 5-all, but dropped her serve while serving to stay in the match to hand Parks a 6-2, 7-5 victory.

Parks finished the match with nine aces and four double faults to her name. She landed 64% of first serves in play and won 68% of first serve points (28/41). Parks won 52% of second serve points (12/23) and saved seven of nine break points. Parks has now accounted for some big wins this week to reach a semifinal at the WTA 500 level. Parks is a one-time champion at WTA level. She won her only final in Lyon two years ago. Can she make the Monterrey final?

Diana Shnaider is the third seed and is also through to the Monterrey semifinals after a hard-fought three-set victory over Elise Mertens. The 21-year-old Russian is competing in her second main draw in this tournament and has done better than her first trip, when she lost in the opening round. Shnaider dropped the first 6-3 to Mertens in 41 minutes, but won the next two sets in tie-breaks. She saved a match point at 4-5 in the second set, and four more match points on Mertens’ serve in the third set, which she trailed 1-5 at one point.

Shnaider needed three match points of her own to seal victory in three hours of drama. She tallied one ace and four double faults. Shnaider landed 65% of first serves in play and won 66% of first serve points (53/80). She won 44% of second serve points (19/43) and saved seven of 12 break points. Shnaider had earlier defeated countrywoman Kamilla Rakhimova in the tournament.

Alycia Parks vs Diana Shnaider Head-To-Head

Parks and Shnaider have met three times. Shnaider leads the head-to-head 2-1. On hard courts, it is tied at 1-1, with both meetings taking place this season.

Alycia Parks vs Diana Shnaider Prediction

Shnaider is coming off a marathon three-set match against Mertens, which might leave her legs a bit heavier for this one. And as one of the seeded players at the US Open, which kicks off this weekend, it’s feasible that her focus could shift to New York, and maybe she’ll be wary not to burn her energy tank in Monterrey. That said, I still expect Shnaider to turn up and play her best tennis. But with Parks already showing more ambition in some time and feeling extremely confident all week and proving her detractors wrong, I fancy the American to nab at least a set.

Nur Said's Pick: Alycia Parks set handicap +1.5
