Fourth seed Alexander Zverev will face 30th seed Arthur Fils in the Indian Wells quarterfinals on Thursday, March 12. Here’s our Alexander Zverev vs Arthur Fils prediction. This preview will also include an Alexander Zverev vs Arthur Fils pick.

Alexander Zverev vs Arthur Fils Preview

Alexander Zverev made some history this week, becoming the first player to win 100 matches at ATP Masters this decade (from 2020), thanks to a commanding straight sets win over Frances Tiafoe. After a shock early exit last year, Zverev made sure of his spot in the second week of Indian Wells with victories over Matteo Berrettini and Brandon Nakashima to advance to the last 16 where he cruised past Tiafoe 6-3, 6-4 in just 90 minutes, picking up his 9th win in 10 matches against the American star.

In the victory, Zverev fired 27 winners and 23 unforced errors, including 14 aces and 1 double fault. Zverev landed 70% of first serves and won 77% of first serve points (34/44). He won 47% of second serve points (9/19) and saved both break points he faced in the match. This is his second quarterfinal of the season. He has lost at this stage in Indian Wells twice in the past.

Arthur Fils’ comeback is gathering pace with the French star enjoying a great run in Indian Wells for the second consecutive year. Fils beat Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. He looked on course to a routine win when he won the first set 6-3, and led 4-2 in the second, but squandered that lead and then had to rally from 0-5 in the tiebreak before saving five set points and securing an incredible victory that powers him to his second Indian Wells quarterfinal.

Fils hit 25 winners and the same number of unforced errors in the victory over the Canadian. Fils landed 61% of first serves in play and won 79% of first serve points (34/43). The Frenchman won 63% of second serve points (17/27) and saved three of four break points. Fils has not lost a set in the tournament and had beaten Dino Prizmic (retirement) and Marton Fucsovics earlier.

Alexander Zverev vs Arthur Fils Head-To-Head

Zverev and Fils have met six times with Zverev leading their head-to-head 4-2. They have met once on hard courts and Fils took out the German in three sets at the 2025 Miami Open. Zverev won their last meeting in Rome last year.

Alexander Zverev vs Arthur Fils Prediction

Matches between Zverev and Fils have always been competitive. They have gone the distance in four of the six matches and even their two straight sets matches were competitive. While you cannot rule out Fils from overpowering the German (he’s the proactive man here in this matchup with the bigger and more reliable forehand), Zverev suits this court better with his patient point construction, stable backhand and serve control and he’s got that ability to grind out matches

Nur Said's Pick: Alexander Zverev in three sets
