The match took 18 games to decide, with Musetti prevailing 6-3, 6-3, tallying only nine unforced errors in the match. It was a vintage performance by the 23-year-old who was stretched to three sets in each of his last two matches this week, against Yunchaokete Bu and Jiri Lehecka. 

Musetti improves his clay record this year to 4-0, having won one match in Latin America in Buenos Aires, where he withdrew before his quarterfinal match. The Italian will look to reach his first semifinal in Monte Carlo.

It took Tsitsipas quite a bit of time to get into rhythm this week, but he'll now be difficult to stop after delivering a near-perfect performance against Borges. The Greek shines on clay, particularly in Monte Carlo, where he has won the tournament three times already. He's not easily picked out from the baseline, and he has time and space to set up points and finish them at will. Musetti still possesses some silky smooth shots, but nothing truly out of the ordinary to trouble Tsitsipas in a best-of-three match. That head-to-head advantage also fills Tsitsipas with loads of optimism to progress into his fourth Monte Carlo semifinal.
