Jessica Pegula Preview
Jessica Pegula reached her fifth quarterfinal of the season. And only once has she stumbled at this stage (Doha), but ensured at least a final appearance the other three times. The American beat Ajla Tomljanovic in the last round in straight sets. The match took 17 games to decide, with Pegula prevailing 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and 13 minutes. In the victory, Pegula hit 29 winners and 13 unforced errors, including three aces and one double fault. Pegula landed 62% of first serves in play and won 81% of first serve points (29/36). The top seed won 50% of second serve points (11/22) and saved four of five breakpoints. Pegula compiled 52% of return points (25/48) and broke Tomljanovic four times in the match. This was her 22nd match win of 2025. Pegula is coming off a runner-up finish at the Miami Open. She has reached the Charleston semifinals in each of her last two visits.
Danielle Collins Preview
Danielle Collins is the defending champion in Charleston and is not ready to relinquish her crown. The seventh seed beat 11th seed Jelena Ostapenko 7-5, 6-3, fighting off a break deficit in each set. In the victory, Collins fired 25 winners and 23 unforced errors, including three aces and four double faults. Collins landed 53% of first serve points and won 63% of first serve points (24/38). She won 50% of second serve points (17/34) and saved four of seven breakpoints. Collins tallied 51% of return points (35/69) and broke Ostapenko five times in the match. Collins improves to 7-4 for the season. She exited the Top 20 after failing to defend her Miami title. This is her first quarterfinal of 2025.
Jessica Pegula vs Danielle Collins Head-To-Head

• Collins has won one set against her countrywoman.
Jessica Pegula vs Danielle Collins Prediction
As strange as it is to say this, I'm siding with Collins here. Granted she has a title to defend, she is already out of the top 20 after an early exit in Miami (lost to eventual champion Sabalenka), but she is dangerous when she's swinging freely and likes the underdog tag. We mustn't forget that Pegula has played in a heavy schedule (28 matches in three months). The plus money on Collins is tempting here, and she might pull off the upset.
Nur’s Pick Danielle Collins in three sets
