Aryna Sabalenka and Danielle Collins clash in the fourth round of the 2025 WTA Miami Open on Monday, March 24, 2025. Here's our Aryna Sabalenka vs Danielle Collins prediction. This preview will also include an Aryna Sabalenka vs Danielle Collins pick.
Aryna Sabalenka Preview
Aryna Sabalenka needed only 38 minutes to reach the fourth round of the Miami Open. The Belarusian raced to take the first set of her third-round match against Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-1.
But the Romanian qualifier was forced to retire due to injury. Ruse had played three grueling matches including two in qualifying each lasting three sets and was not in peak physical condition to compete with the World No. 1. Sabalenka's only completed win for the tournament came in the second round where she beat Viktoriya Tomova 6-3, 6-0.
The top seed has not lost a set so far and has a near-perfect record in her last eight matches, winning seven. Her only defeat was to Mirra Andreeva in the Indian Wells final.
Sabalenka has reached the quarterfinals in Miami twice in the past. However, she was beaten in the third round last season by Anhelina Kalinina. She is still chasing her first WTA 1000 title win of 2025.
Danielle Collins Preview
Defending champion Danielle Collins also made it to the last 16. The 14th seed beat Swiss qualifier Rebeka Masarova in three sets. The match took 28 games to decide and lasted two hours and 20 minutes.
In the victory, Collins hit 29 winners and 42 unforced errors. That tally included three aces and four double faults. Collins landed 53% of first serves in play and won 69% of first serve points (33/48). The American won 52% of second serve points (22/42) and saved nine of 12 break points.
Collins compiled 42% of return points (46/109) and broke Masarova four times in the match. This was Collins' fifth win of the season. She didn't play after the Australian Open and missed the whole of February.
Aryna Sabalenka vs Danielle Collins Head-To-Head
• Sabalenka and Collins have met six times on the WTA Tour.
• Sabalenka owns a 100% winning record in the head-to-head with a 6-0 lead.
• Sabalenka won their last hard-court meeting at the 2022 US Open in three sets.
Aryna Sabalenka vs Danielle Collins Prediction
As lopsided as the head-to-head looks (6-0 Sabalenka), which in this case indicates that Collins has a near-impossible task of beating the World No. 1, the set handicap +1.5 on the American is very enticing.
Collins took a set from Sabalenka when they played in Madrid last season. Madrid is usually considered one of the quickest clay courts on tour. And in their last hard-court matchup, it featured three sets. It's obviously not the most reliable sample size to suggest that Collins can do it again, but she is a formidable competitor on this surface and is capable of hitting through any defense. The only issue is that Sabalenka hits an even heavier and more robust ball, neutralizing Collins' attacking prowess. It is Sabalenka who should prevail, but expect a hard-fought battle with Collins not easily relinquishing her title.
Nur’s Pick Danielle Collins set handicap +1.5
