Nick Kyrgios is coming off a three-set win over American qualifier Mackenzie McDonald in the first round. The match took 28 games to decide and lasted an hour and 45 minutes. Kyrgios prevailed 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 for his first ATP win in over 800 days. In the victory, Kyrgios hit 29 winners and 26 unforced errors including 13 aces and three double faults.
Kyrgios landed 79% of first serves in play and won 78% of first serve points (46/59). The Aussie won 41% of second serve points (7/17) and saved one of three break points. Kyrgios compiled 38% of return points (32/84) and converted three of seven break points in the match.
The last time Kyrgios won a match was in October 2022 in Tokyo.
Karen Khachanov Preview
Karen Khachanov is the 22nd seed at this year's Miami Open and had a BYE in the first round. Khachanov is a one-time champion at the Masters level, famously beating Novak Djokovic to win the Paris-Bercy in 2018. This season, Khachanov has reached the third round of a tournament only once, doing so at the 2025 Australian Open.
Overall, he has compiled four wins from six matches and is coming off a third-round defeat at the hands of Ben Shelton in Indian Wells.
Khachanov first made his Miami debut in 2014 as a 17-year-old and has since played seven more editions of this ATP 1000. His best result was reaching the semifinals in 2023. Last year, the Russian was knocked out in the round of 16 stage by Alexander Zverev.

I'm going with the overs here. Kyrgios is coming off an odds-defying win, putting paid to concerns of his wrist injury resurfacing. The Australian served up a gallant performance. It's not often you see Kyrgios rallying from a set down to win and that can only mean he's super pumped for this moment. After his Indian Wells retirement, I didn't have full faith in his confidence that he would turn it around. Khachanov is not having a great season. He's had more losses than wins. The bookies have instilled Khachanov as the heavy favorite at -285, but I don't agree with the pre-match odds. The games spread offers better value as Kyrgios will most likely get some easy holds.
