Carlos Alcaraz and Quentin Halys meet in the second round of the 2025 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Here's our Carlos Alcaraz vs Quentin Halys prediction. This article will also include a Carlos Alcaraz vs Quentin Halys pick.
Carlos Alcaraz Preview
Carlos Alcaraz is the second seed at the 2025 BNP Paribas Open and that means he will begin his campaign in the second round. He is also the two-time defending champion. Alcaraz has competed in Indian Wells in four previous main draws.
He lost in the second round on his debut four years ago to Andy Murray. His second trip in 2022 was a lot better, with Alcaraz reaching the semis and losing to Rafael Nadal in an epic match.
Alcaraz has compiled an 11-2 record this year, winning six of eight matches on outdoor hard courts. He has played just three tournaments since January. He was a quarterfinalist at the Australian Open and won his first-ever indoor title in Rotterdam last month. Alcaraz is coming off a three-set loss to Jiri Lehecka in Doha.
Quentin Halys Preview
Quentin Halys is unseeded and won his first-round match against Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets as a +140 underdog. The match took 19 games to decide with Halys prevailing 6-3, 6-4 in 80 minutes.
In the victory, the Frenchman fired 29 winners and 19 unforced errors. That tally included nine aces and three double faults. Halys landed 66% of first serves and won 85% of first serve points (33/39). He won 35% of second serve points (7/20) and saved five of seven break points in his serve.
Halys won 45% of return points (27/60) and broke Carreno Busta four times. This was his fifth main draw win this season.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Quentin Halys Prediction
For the last two seasons, Alcaraz stood above the rest in Indian Wells and it would take a superhuman effort to deny him the three-peat. He'll be in illustrious company with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic if he wins the BNP Paribas Open for three years in a row. But there is a caveat to what Alcaraz can potentially do these two weeks, with the new change of the playing surface in this tournament. It will be interesting to see how Alcaraz fares on it. Players are divided in their opinions on whether the surface is slower or faster. But Alcaraz is adaptable and should get a result in his opening match.
