Brandon Nakashima and David Goffin clash in the quarterfinal of the 2025 ATP Mexican Open in Acapulco on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Here's our Brandon Nakashima vs David Goffin prediction. This article will also include a Brandon Nakashima vs David Goffin pick.

Brandon Nakashima Preview

Brandon Nakashima played for only three games to secure his spot in the quarterfinal. Nakashima broke Rune to take a 3-0 lead in the first set of their second-round match before the Dane quit because of a stomach issue.

Before that, Nakashima had beaten Benjamin Bonzi in straight sets in his opening match 7-6, 7-5 in over two hours. In that match, he hit 32 winners and 46 unforced errors, including five aces and one double fault.

Nakashima landed 55% of first serves and won 78% of first serve points (36/46) and 49% of second serve points (18/37).

Nakashima saved five of seven break points on his serve and broke Bonzi three times in the match. This will be his first quarterfinal of the season. The American last made the last eight of an ATP event in September 2024 in Hangzhou.

David Goffin Preview

David Goffin upset fifth seed Ben Shelton in straight sets to reach his first quarterfinal of 2025. The match took 22 games to decide in an hour and 45 minutes.

In the victory, Goffin hit 18 winners and 31 unforced errors that included one ace and one double fault. Goffin landed 62% of first serves and won 74% of first serve points (28/38).

Goffin won 74% of second serve points (17/23) and only faced one break point in the match. The Belgian won 39% of return points (28/72) and converted two of eight break points.

Before this week, Goffin had lost his last five matches of the new season. His last ATP quarterfinal was at the end of last year in Basel. That was also the last tournament he won a match until Acapulco.

Brandon Nakashima vs David Goffin Prediction

Despite only playing for three games until his opponent retired, Nakashima won't have to worry too much about lack of sufficient minutes before his quarterfinal. He's beaten Goffin twice in the past when the Belgian was still part of the top 100. The Belgian is coming off a confidence-boosting straight sets win against Ben Shelton that puts a silver lining to a very poor start to the season. It's still questionable that Goffin will keep this up for one more match. Nakashima has just played a bit better in comparison for the first two months. I'm happy to back him outright.

Nur’s Pick Brandon Nakashima in three sets
