In the victory over Hijikata, Goffin won 6-2, 6-3. He hit 25 winners and 24 unforced errors, including three aces and zero double faults.

Goffin landed 71% of first serves and won 84% of first serve points (21/25). He won 83% of second serve points (10/12) and only faced one break point in the match.

Goffin compiled 52% of return points (41/79) and broke Hijikata five times. It is the third time in his career he has advanced into the round of 16 in Acapulco.

This should be an interesting clash of styles. Goffin is finally on the board, picking up his first win of the season with almost two months of the season gone. But that won't change my mind pertaining to my thinking of his consistency these days. He's still prone to substandard performances.

Shelton looked subpar in beating Flavio Cobolli, but he'll easily play himself into form in this tournament. The serve could do with some refinement, but Goffin's return just falls well below his usual high standards. I'm happy to take Shelton in two, possibly one set going to a tie-break.
