Andrey Rublev and Felix Auger-Aliassime meet in the semifinal of the 2025 ATP Qatar Open in Doha on Friday, February 21, 2025. Here's our Andrey Rublev vs Felix Auger-Aliassime prediction. This preview will also include an Andrey Rublev vs Felix Auger-Aliassime pick.

Andrey Rublev Preview

Andrey Rublev is coming off a dramatic three-set win over Alex de Minaur. The match took 29 games to decide and lasted two hours and 42 minutes.

In the victory, Rublev hammered 33 winners and 49 unforced errors. That included eight aces and one double fault.

Rublev landed 72% of first serves in play (67/93) and won 64% of first serve points (43/67).

Rublev won 65% of second serve points (17/26) and saved two of four break points.

On the return, Rublev tallied 42% of return points (48/114) and broke de Minaur three times in the match.

The Russian let slip a 5-2 lead in the final set but prevailed in a tie-break after saving one match point and requiring eight match points of his own to seal victory.

Felix Auger-Aliassime Preview

Felix Auger-Aliassime received another lucky break in Doha to reach the semifinals for the second time. Auger-Aliassime won his opening match this week against Quentin Halys in three sets.

He did not take to the court in the second round. That was because Hamad Medjedovic withdrew before their match due to injury.

In the quarterfinal, Auger-Aliassime earned a retirement win over Daniil Medvedev. The Canadian won the first set 6-3 after only half an hour. He hit 14 winners and 10 unforced errors. That included four aces and zero double faults.

Auger-Aliassime landed 61% of first serves in play and won 91% of first serve points (10/11).

He won 86% of second serve points (6/7) and did not face a break point.

Medvedev revealed after the match that he had food poisoning and had to abandon the contest.

Andrey Rublev vs Felix Auger-Aliassime Head-To-Head

• Rublev and Auger-Aliassime have met six times on the ATP level.

• Rublev leads the head-to-head 5-1. He defeated Auger-Aliassime to win the Madrid Masters last season.

Andrey Rublev vs Felix Auger-Aliassime Prediction

I'm going with the games spread here. It's the most sensible thing to do. Rublev and Auger-Aliassime are two of the cleanest hitters of a tennis ball. It is because of this similarity that their matches have been extremely competitive with at least 25 games in all six head-to-head meetings. While it is Rublev who starts as the clear favorite given his dominance in this rivalry, this one will be on a knife edge. The stumbling block for Auger-Aliassime is that he's not accumulated many minutes on the court this week, with a walkover and then a retirement win leaving him just short of match play.
