Andrey Rublev and Alexander Bublik clash in the first round of the 2025 ATP Qatar Open in Doha on Monday, February 17, 2025. Here's our Andrey Rublev vs Alexander Bublik prediction. This preview will also include an Andrey Rublev vs Alexander Bublik pick.
Andrey Rublev Preview
Andrey Rublev is a former champion of the Qatar Open. He won this tournament back in 2020 without losing a set. His last two trips to Doha ended with a quarterfinal exit.
Rublev is currently ranked 10th in the ATP rankings after a modest start to the season which has yielded four wins and four defeats.
His most recent tournament appearance came in Rotterdam where he made the last eight after winning back-to-back matches for the first time this season.
Rublev is a winner of 16 ATP titles.
Alexander Bublik Preview
Alexander Bublik is ranked 48th in the ATP rankings and will be competing in the Doha main draw for the fifth time in his career.
Bublik's best result at the Qatar Open was in reaching the quarterfinals last year where he lost to Alexei Popyrin.
The Kazakh is only 2-5 for the season and his ranking has taken a hit after failing to defend his Montpellier title. His last appearance was in Marseille and fell in the round of 16 to eventual champion Ugo Humbert.
Andrey Rublev vs Alexander Bublik Head-To-Head
• Rublev and Bublik have met seven times on tour.
• Rublev leads the head-to-head 4-3 but was disqualified from their last clash in Dubai last season for shouting at a line judge.
Andrey Rublev vs Alexander Bublik Betting Odds
• Rublev starts as the favorite at -400. Bublik is the underdog at +320.
• The over 2.5 sets at +160 is worth looking at if the recent history between them is anything to go by.
Andrey Rublev vs Alexander Bublik Prediction
It's been a year since Rublev and Bublik met and the match ended in quite controversial circumstances. Rublev was defaulted for what the chair umpire perceived as the use of profanity towards the line judge.
It's difficult to know with certainty which version of Bublik will turn up in Doha. The Kazakh is a flashy shotmaker in his own right and has mastered every shot in the book, but he's wildly inconsistent. When his game is not clicking, he is usually susceptible to many errors. That's why I'm on Rublev despite the unhealthy odds. I thought his level in Rotterdam was quite decent and if he can keep Bublik guessing with his massive swings, he'll win this.
Nur’s Pick Andrey Rublev in straight sets
