Linda Noskova and Yulia Putintseva meet in the first round of the 2025 WTA Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Here's our Linda Noskova vs Yulia Putintseva prediction. This preview will also include a Linda Noskova vs Yulia Putintseva pick.
Linda Noskova Preview
Linda Noskova will be competing at the WTA Dubai Tennis Championships for the first time. Noskova posted six wins and five losses this season.
Like most of her peers, her season started in Australia where she reached the third round of Brisbane and lost to Mirra Andreeva. The Czech had an uneventful time Down Under as she only won one match.
But her fortunes changed upon jetting in the Middle East. Noskova reached her first semifinal of the season in Abu Dhabi (lost to Ashlyn Krueger).
Last week, Noskova won two matches at the WTA 1000 in Doha, including a victory over Yulia Putintseva. She lost to Iga Swiatek in three sets in the last 16.
Yulia Putintseva Preview
Yulia Putintseva played very well on Australian and that massively helped her Top 20 bid. The Kazakhstani started the season with a round of 16 loss to her good friend Aryna Sabalenka in Brisbane.
But she quickly made the semifinal in her next tournament in Adelaide, only losing to Jessica Pegula. That week she had beaten Donna Vekic, Ons Jabeur, and Diana Shnaider.
Putintseva reached the third round of the Australian Open to round off her campaign Down Under. In two tournaments in the Middle East so far, she has posted one win (defeated Moyuka Uchijima in Doha).
Linda Noskova vs Yulia Putintseva Head-To-Head
• Noskova and Putintseva have played twice on the WTA level.
• Putintseva won their first meeting at the 2024 US Open, but it was Noskova who exercised revenge this past week in Doha.
Linda Noskova vs Yulia Putintseva Prediction
It's an evenly poised matchup as Noskova and Putintseva lock horns for the second time in as many weeks. In Doha, the Czech was simply too strong, fending off the challenge of Putintseva in two routine sets. I'd expect a reaction from Putintseva who looked drained of energy and interest in Qatari capital. She's got a reason to celebrate now that she's a top 20 player, but results have been poor, and performances abject since breaking new ground. That said, I still fancy Noskova to win their sequel. The 20-year-old has layers to her game and is unfazed by Putintseva's variation in her shots.
Nur’s Pick Linda Noskova in three sets
