Ekaterina Alexandrova and Amanda Anisimova meet in the semifinal of the 2025 WTA Qatar Open in Doha on Friday, February 14, 2025. Here's our Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Amanda Anisimova prediction. This preview will also include an Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Amanda Anisimova pick.

Ekaterina Alexandrova Preview

Ekaterina Alexandrova knocked out World No. 5 Jessica Pegula in three sets to reach her first semifinal at the WTA Qatar Open in Doha.

Alexandrova dropped the first set 6-4, but won the next two 6-1, 6-1 to progress. The match lasted an hour and 43 minutes.

Alexandrova hit two aces and four double faults in the victory. She landed 69% of first serves in play and won 70% of fist serve points (39/56).

The Russian won 44% of second serve points (11/25) and saved seven of nine break points in the match.

Alexandrova won 51% of return points (38/75) and converted six of eight break points.

Amanda Anisimova Preview

Amanda Anisimova reached her first WTA semifinal of the season with her own three-set win over Marta Kostyuk.

The match took 32 games to decide and lasted two and a half hours. In the victory, Anisimova accounted for five double faults but no aces.

The American landed 71% of first serves in play and won 56% of first serve points (47/84).

Anisimova won 54% of second serve points (19/35) and saved 13 of 19 break points in the match.

Anisimova tallied 46% of return points (48/104) and broke Kostyuk's serve seven times.

This is her first WTA 1000 semifinal since Toronto last August when she made her first final at this level.

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Amanda Anisimova Head-To-Head

• Alexandrova and Anisimova have met twice on the WTA Tour.

• The head-to-head is tied at 1-1 with Anisimova winning their only hard-court meeting at the 2020 Qatar Open.

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Amanda Anisimova Prediction

This should be an interesting power-hitting battle. Alexandrova is the in-form woman with eight straight wins after lifting the WTA 500 title in Linz at the start of February. She has lost two sets to reach this stage in Doha and that has been against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and World No. 5 Jessica Pegula, whom she beat from a set down. That's the size of the hurdle that Anisimova will have to clear. The American enjoyed a resurgent year on Tour this past year, reaching her first WTA 1000 final in Toronto and I think she's got a shot of upsetting Alexandrova. There is not much to choose between them, but if Anisimova can sort out her serve, I like her chances. She's the cleanest ball striker between them. Give me Anisimova at +107.
