Holger Rune and Pedro Martinez meet in the second round of the 2025 Rotterdam Open on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Here's our Holger Rune vs Pedro Martinez prediction. This preview will also include a Holger Rune vs Pedro Martinez pick.
Holger Rune Preview
Holger Rune kicked off his 2025 Rotterdam Open campaign with a hard-fought 7-6, 6-4 win over Australian Open quarterfinalist Lorenzo Sonego.
The match lasted two hours and 13 minutes. Rune hit five aces in the victory. He landed 57% of first serves and won 78% of first serve points (32/41).
Rune won 58% of second serve points (18/31) and saved one of two break points on his serve. The Dane won 43% of return points (42/98) and converted two of 13 break points on the Sonego serve.
Rune has lost in the last 16 in each of two previous appearances in Rotterdam. So, can he address that record?
Pedro Martinez Preview
Pedro Martinez was a +118 underdog to beat countryman Roberto Bautista Agut but scored a shock straight sets win. The match took 17 games to decide and lasted an hour and 41 minutes.
In the victory, Martinez didn't hit any aces but tallied two double faults. He landed 58% of first serves and won 60% of first serve points (18/30).
Martinez won 73% of second serve points (16/22) and saved five of six break points. On the return, Martinez won 52% of points (34/55 and broke Bautista Agut five times in the match.
This was his first win in this tournament. Martinez won two out of seven matches on indoor hard courts last season.

Holger Rune vs Pedro Martinez Prediction
Rune starts as a clear favorite with the oddsmakers at -769. Martinez is the underdog at +500. The Spaniard is coming off a very impressive win over Bautista Agut. Martinez is known for his clay-court skills but he has previously lifted an indoor hard-court title at the Challenger level (2023 Brest Challenger). Still, I don't see him standing in Rune's way and the quarterfinals. The Dane has been notoriously prone to round of 16 defeats in Rotterdam as a big favorite, but he's bound to break that duck on Thursday. He produced a colorful performance against the in-form Sonego in his opening match and I expect him to play at such a high standard here.
