Daniil Medvedev and Mattia Bellucci meet in the second round of the 2025 Rotterdam Open on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Here's our Daniil Medvedev vs Mattia Bellucci prediction. This preview will also include a Daniil Medvedev vs Mattia Bellucci pick.
Daniil Medvedev Preview
Daniil Medvedev started his 2025 Rotterdam campaign with a gutsy three-set win over three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka.
Medvedev won 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 in two and a half hours. Medvedev lost an incredible first set tie-break having led 5-3 and had three set points, but avoided a shock early exit.
In the victory, Medvedev tallied seven aces and six double faults. He landed 65% of first serves in play and won 74% of first serve points (42/57).
Medvedev won 48% of second serve points (15/31) and saved five of seven break points. The World No. 7 won 47% of return points (50/106) and converted six of 11 break points.
This was just his second match win of 2025.
Mattia Bellucci Preview

The Italian compiled 10 aces and four double faults. He landed 66% of first serves in play and won 79% of first serve points.

Daniil Medvedev vs Mattia Bellucci Prediction
Could this be the first phase of Daniil Medvedev's decline? Or this is just an occasional blip? There are so many questions to ponder and the Russian is clearly not playing his best tennis in 2025. He has already parted ways with his now ex-coach Gilles Simon after his shock second-round defeat at the Australian Open.
Medvedev was on the precipice against Wawrinka in his opening match in Rotterdam, but just managed to pull the rabbit out of that hat. He had the legs and the endurance to defeat the aging Swiss. The danger for Medvedev here is that he will come up against a fantastic athlete. Bellucci's fitness record has been exemplary since the start of the 2023 season and played 84 matches last year. The second seed will need to produce his best tennis. Failure to do so and another upset could be on the cards. The wise thing is to stay out from betting Medvedev on the money line at least for now, but he should be winning this match.
