Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev clash in the final of the 2025 Australian Open on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Here's our Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev prediction. This preview will also include a Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev pick.
Jannik Sinner Preview
Jannik Sinner is coming off a straight sets win over Ben Shelton. The match took 29 games to decide and lasted two hours and 37 minutes.
Sinner compiled 23 winners and 26 unforced errors in the victory. That included eight aces and zero double faults.
Sinner landed 57% of first serves in play and won 75% of first serve points (38/51).
The World No. 1 won 63% of second serve points (24/38) and saved five of seven break points.
Sinner won 47% of return points (56/118) and 70% of net points (14/20). He broke Shelton's serve six times from 13 opportunities.
Sinner will attempt to win his third Grand Slam title. He is 2-0 in Grand Slam final matches (won the Australian Open and US Open last season).
Alexander Zverev Preview
Alexander Zverev earned a retirement win over Novak Djokovic in the first semifinal on Friday, meaning that there will be no record 25th Grand Slam for the Serbian this weekend.
The match lasted for only set, but what a set of tennis it was. It lasted 82 minutes, and featured a grand total of eight break points, with Zverev saving three and Djokovic saving five before it was decided in a tie-break.
The tie-break stayed on serve until the 12th point, when Djokovic netted an easy volley and immediately retired because of injury.
The win puts Zverev in his third career final in a Major. He lost the 2020 US Open to Dominic Thiem and the 2024 French Open to Carlos Alcaraz.

• Sinner defeated Zverev in three sets en route to the Cincinnati title last season.
• Zverev has beaten Sinner twice in Grand Slams (both at the US Open).
Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev Prediction
Sinner starts as a -333 favorite on the money line with most markets, which is a ridiculously low price considering his physical limitations. But we are meant to believe that he's been battling cramps rather than an apparent injury, which is what most reports indicate. So, that shouldn't really be an issue here as he's hardly been tested all tournament.
Zverev is +250 to win on Sunday, which means you can make 3.5 times your money waging on the German to lift his first Grand Slam. Betting on over 3.5 sets in the match is -192 which is short odds for a match that should at least feature four sets.
Sinner brings with him the X-factor as a two-time major champion and he's been virtually the man to beat at almost every tournament in the last 12 months. But Zverev has trailed him closely in rankings and results on hard courts in that time. I like his chances of an upset. The only concern is that Zverev has been in this situation multiple times in the past and just didn't have the mental fortitude or temerity to cross the finish line (0-2 in Slam finals). If he doesn't break down, both mentally and emotionally, he could pull this off.
