Iga Swiatek and Eva Lys meet in the fourth round of the 2025 Australian Open on Monday, January 20, 2025. Here's our Iga Swiatek vs Eva Lys prediction. This preview also includes an Iga Swiatek vs Eva Lys pick.

Iga Swiatek Preview

Iga Swiatek has done better than last year's third-round finish at the Australian Open. The Pole made sure she did not stumble in the same stage 12 months on.

Swiatek beat Emma Raducanu on Saturday to book her spot in the second week of the year's first Grand Slam.

Despite so much hype in the build-up, the match was completely one-sided and in favor of Swiatek who outclassed Raducanu.

Swiatek won 6-1, 6-0 in her most accomplished performance of the tournament so far. She hit 24 winners and just 12 unforced errors.

Swiatek registered two aces and three double faults. She landed 69% of first serves and won 83% of first-serve points (20/24).

Swiatek won 73% of second serve points (8/11) and did not face a break point.

The World No. 2 won 58% of return points (31/53) and 83% of net points (5/6). She converted five of 12 break points.

Swiatek was a semifinalist at this tournament three years ago. That remains her best result.

Eva Lys Preview

Eva Lys lost in the final round of qualifying to Destanee Aiava but entered the main draw as a lucky loser.

Lys has beaten Kimberly Birrell and Varvara Gracheva, to reach the third round. Before this week, she had never scaled the second round of a Grand Slam, but will now contest for a quarterfinal spot in a match against World No. 2 Iga Swiatek.

To get there, Lys came from a set down to beat Jaqueline Cristian 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in two hours and 28 minutes.

In the victory, Lys hit 34 winners and 48 unforced errors. She landed 68% of first serves and won 74% of first serve points (40/54).

Lys tallied 54% of second serve points (14/26) and saved five of eight break points.

Lys won 45% of return points (44/98) and 86% of net points (6/7). She converted five of 14 break points.

• Swiatek defeated Lys in straight sets in their only WTA meeting at the 2022 Stuttgart Open.

Iga Swiatek vs Eva Lys Prediction

Lys' magical run is the most captivating story of the Australian Open. She was supposed to be on the next flight to Germany but still hung around in Melbourne in the hope of getting a lucky loser spot. Not only did she benefit from a free entry into the main draw, but scored three wins to extend her stay in Australia for at least one week.

But this is where the story comes to an end. Iga Swiatek is making it her mission to win a second hard-court Grand Slam of her career and is operating at an even higher level than at the United Cup where she nursed an injury. Back Swiatek to make light work of Lys.
