No. 19 seed Madison Keys and No. 10 seed Danielle Collins meet in the third round of the 2025 Australian Open on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Here's our Madison Keys vs Danielle Collins prediction. This preview also includes a Madison Keys vs Danielle Collins pick.

Madison Keys Preview

Madison Keys defeated Romanian qualifier Elena Gabriela Ruse in the second round in three sets. The match took 31 games to decide and lasted two and a half hours.

In the victory, Keys recorded 37 winners and 44 unforced errors. Keys landed 69% of first serves and won 65% of first-serve points (44/68).

Keys won 50% of second-serve points (15/30). Her fastest serve in the match peaked at 190km/h.

Keys won 41% of return points (48/116) and converted four of eight break points. She improves to 9-1 for 2025.

Danielle Collins Preview

Danielle Collins also beat a qualifier to reach the third round of the Australian Open. The American saw off Destanee Aiava in three sets inside a raucous Kia Arena.

The match took 31 games to decide and lasted two hours and 25 minutes. Collins won 7-6, 4-6, 6-2. In the victory, the No. 10 seed recorded 45 winners and 38 unforced errors.

Collins landed 57% of first serves and won 79% of first-serve points (44/56).

Collins won 42% of second-serve points (18/43).

She won 104 total points in the match, which is only three more than Aiava, clearly showing this was far from a routine win for Collins who alleged to have been heckled by the crowd.

Collins won 37% of return points (39/106) and converted four of 13 break points.

It's the first time she's reached the third round since 2023.

Madison Keys vs Danielle Collins Head-To-Head

• Keys and Collins have met three times on the WTA Tour.

• Keys leads Collins 2-1 and won their last meeting in the Strasbourg final in straight sets.

• Keys has won nine of her 10 matches this season with her only defeat being to eventual champion Clara Tauson in Auckland.

• Collins lost in the first round of the Brisbane International in her only warm-up tournament.

Madison Keys vs Danielle Collins Prediction

Keys and Collins are massive hitters of the ball. But it is Keys who has the superior serve and is generally more consistent in rallies. Her ground stroke accuracy is also clear that of Collins. She is also in excellent form coming to Melbourne, winning the title in Adelaide and posting a 9-1 record for the season so far. Assuming there is no drop in level, I feel Keys will be too strong for Collins, who it has to be said will be getting the full wrath of the Australian crowd after her antics in the previous round.

Nur’s Pick Madison Keys in straight sets
