Rebecca Sramkova Preview
Awaiting Swiatek in the second round of the Australian Open is World No. 49 Rebecca Sramkova. The Slovak came back from a set down to beat American Katie Volynets 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Iga Swiatek vs Rebecca Sramkova Head-To-Head
• Swiateka and Sramkova have never met at any level before this.
• Swiatek is 5-1 for the season with her only defeat being at the United Cup.
• Sramkova is 1-2. She lost her two singles matches in Brisbane and Hobart.
Iga Swiatek vs Rebecca Sramkova Prediction
Reaching the second round of the Australian Open is officially Sramkova's best-ever result at a Major. She is riding on that wave of momentum that she built in the second half of last season reaching three WTA finals and winning a maiden Tour level title in Hua Hin. She also single-handedly guided Slovakia to the Billie Jean King Cup final, losing to Jasmine Paolini's Italy. I think Sramkova realized that she hadn't maximized her full potential before. We are now seeing a player with a completely different mindset.
But in order to extend her stay in Melbourne, Sramkova will need to produce a sensational serving performance, willingness to go to the net often as she did in the first round, and unbelievable luck. It's not impossible, but I just don't see her having this kind of response after an error-strewn performance against Volynets. Still, Swiatek will need to work hard for the victory.
