Clara Tauson and Linda Noskova meet in the first round of the 2025 Australian Open on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Here's our Clara Tauson vs Linda Noskova prediction. This preview also includes a Clara Tauson vs Linda Noskova pick.
Clara Tauson Preview
Clara Tauson was among the few players who topped the podium in the lead-up to this year's Australian Open. The big-serving Dane won her third career title and first since 2021 at the ASB Classic in Auckland in the opening week of the season.
Tauson won four complete matches in New Zealand, besting each of Sofia Kenin and Madison Keys, and then benefitting from Naomi Osaka's retirement in the final.
She was instilled as the champion and therefore is undefeated to start the 2025 season.
The 22-year-old Tauson will be competing in her third Australian Open main draw. She reached the third on her debut in 2022 and was knocked out by Victoria Azarenka last season in the second round stage.
Linda Noskova Preview
Linda Noskova's stay in Brisbane and Adelaide was largely unproductive with the young Czech winning one match from two tournaments.
It is a massive disappointment considering her previous record in the tuneup events before the Australian Open.
Noskova reached her first WTA final in Adelaide two seasons ago and was a semifinalist in Brisbane 12 months ago.
Last year's result in Brisbane had an instant impact on her Australian Open with Noskova going on to beat Iga Swiatek en route to the quarterfinal.
Noskova won 19 matches and lost eight on outdoor hard courts last season.

Clara Tauson vs Linda Noskova Prediction
One of the most interesting matches on Day 1 of the 2025 Australian Open pits two future stars. It's great to see Clara Tauson back in the winner's circle after spending the last two years grappling to revive her career in the top 50. She's back in that band after that title win in Auckland and should be the player with all the confidence in the world to start the afternoon with a convincing victory.
But we've seen situations of a title hangover clouding almost immediately onto some of these younger players in their next tournament. I can see it happening here and Noskova might need this kind of stage to get her season up and running.
