Viktorija Golubic and Celine Naef meet in an all-Swiss final in the 2024 WTA Limoges 125K tournament. The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 15, 2024. Here's our Viktorija Golubic vs Celine Naef prediction. This article will also contain a Viktorija Golubic vs Celine Naef pick.
Viktorija Golubic Preview
Viktorija Golubic picked up her 29th win of the season after beating Nuria Parrizas Diaz in the semifinal of the Limoges 125K tournament albeit via retirement.
Golubic led 7-6, 1-0, when her Spanish opponent retired due to injury. The Swiss is, therefore, through to her second final of 2024.
Golubic was champion at the WTA 250 event in Jiujang, China in early November and can add to her title collection this Sunday. She is currently on an 11-match win streak at all levels.
Celine Naef Preview
Celine Naef had a long route to the title match. The 19-year-old beat last year's finalist Elsa Jacquemot in three sets, but the match should have been a lot more comfortable than what transpired.
Naef was a set and 4-2 up in the second before allowing Jacquemot a route back into the match. She lost three straight games and then dropped the second set in a tie-break.
But Jacquemot appeared to be struggling with an injury after taking an MTO, and it was Naef who regrouped to win the third set with three breaks of serve.
Naef will contest her first final at the WTA level.
Viktorija Golubic vs Celine Naef Head-To-Head
• Golubic and Naef have no previous history at any level. This will be their first career meeting.
Viktorija Golubic vs Celine Naef Prediction
This is the first all-Swiss final at the WTA level in a long time. Golubic is a seasoned pro with vast experience at the top level having peaked at a career-high ranking of No. 35 in the past. She will be up against the younger legs of countrywoman and 19-year-old Naef who is rapidly improving.
It remains to be seen how much gas is left in the Golubic tank, but if anything, she has proven she's got the stamina to play one more match and win. The veteran Swiss has won 11 straight matches and only lost two sets since the end of October. She has immense tactical versatility to trump Naef's baseline-heavy style. Give me Golubic in three.
