In a rematch of the US Open final from two months ago, Sinner once again defeated the American in straight sets. 

The match took 20 games to decide and lasted an hour and 41 minutes.

In the victory, Sinner hit six aces and landed 59% of first serves.

Sinner won 77% of first-serve points (30/39) and 59% of second-serve points (16/27).

He only faced one break point in the match, which he saved.

After a pedestrian performance in his opening group match, which resulted in defeat, Daniil Medvedev bounced back convincingly in his win over Alex de Minaur.

Medvedev who is a former champion of the ATP Finals was in danger of exiting the tournament in the group stage for the third time in his career.

He was in complete command against the Australian, managing to break serve on three occasions, and he produced some very healthy numbers behind his first serve.

Medvedev won 84% of first-serve points (27/32) and did not face a break point in the entire match.

Sinner is yet to lose on an indoor hard court this season after recording his seventh win on the surface against Fritz in the last match. He appears to have this rivalry with Medvedev firmly under his control and watch. The Russian's mentality has been questionable in recent weeks, particularly during his opening match here in Turin. But he answered his critics with a strong performance against de Minaur.

Still, it doesn't look like Medvedev has the clarity of thought and mental capacity to power through a big tournament. It just hasn't happened for him against a man who has been the benchmark of excellence in 2024.
