Holger Rune and Matteo Arnaldi will square off in the first round of the 2024 Paris Masters on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Here's our Holger Rune vs Matteo Arnaldi prediction. This article will also contain a Holger Rune vs Matteo Arnaldi pick.
Holger Rune vs Matteo Arnaldi Preview
It was at this tournament two years ago when Holger Rune won his first big title. Rune defeated Novak Djokovic to win his maiden Masters in Paris-Bercy. And last summer, the Dane reached a career-high ranking of No. 4.
But Rune's fluctuating consistency has cost him a place in the world's Top 10 after a largely uneventful second half of 2023. This year, he's made multiple coaching changes and just did not have a stable backroom team. It is one of the primary reasons why he did not build on his peak.
Rune has quarterfinal points to defend at the 2024 Paris Masters and arrives in the French capital on the back of a semifinal run in Basel.
Matteo Arnaldi is ranked 38th in the ATP rankings and is part of a new wave of Italian tennis players rising to the top of the mountain. Arnaldi has compiled a 29-25 record for the season, which falls below his previous career-best season in 2023 when he won 51 matches and three Challenger titles.
But this is his first full season on the ATP Tour, so it is still commendable that he can finish inside the Top 50. That goal has been achieved and he will be looking to close out the year on a high.
Arnaldi last competed in Basel, where he lost to David Goffin in the first round.

Holger Rune vs Matteo Arnaldi Prediction
This is such an interesting clash between two players who belong to the new generation of ATP stars. But it is Rune who has enjoyed a fruitful early career at the top level so far and has performed very well at the Paris Masters, memorably winning the tournament in 2022. He's also been in fine fettle coming to Bercy, having won eight of his last 11 matches. Give me the Dane to win this in straight sets for maximum value.
