Jessica Pegula and Diane Parry meet in the second round of the 2024 China Open in Beijing. The match is scheduled for Friday, September 27, 2024. Here's our Jessica Pegula vs Diane Parry prediction. This article will also contain a Jessica Pegula vs Diane Parry pick.
Jessica Pegula vs Diane Parry Preview
Jessica Pegula will take to the court for the first time since losing the 2024 US Open final to Aryna Sabalenka. The American cracked the quarterfinal barrier at a Grand Slam for the first time on home soil in New York but came up short in the final.
But despite the disappointment of missing out on tennis' ultimate prize, Pegula will take plenty of other positives. After a campaign that began with a crushing second-round loss at the Australian Open and a change in coaching personnel, she is now almost certain to qualify for the WTA Finals in Riyadh. She's also the American women's No. 1 after rising to Word No. 3 once more.
She is the second seed at this year's China Open, but has won just one match in two previous appearances in Beijing.
Diane Parry had to win her first-round match against En Shuo Liang from Chinese Taipei. Parry dropped the first set 4-6 against the run of play but routinely advanced into the second round, winning the next two sets 6-0, 6-0 as her opponent was physically in discomfort.
In the victory, Parry tallied six aces to one double fault and landed 50% of first serves. The Frenchwoman won a healthy 83% of first-serve points (24/29) and 59% of second-serve points (17/29). She converted six of 12 break points in the match.

Jessica Pegula vs Diane Parry Prediction
Parry has not won successive matches on hard courts since Indian Wells, and for a moment, it looked like she would exit the China Open until her excellent turnaround in the opening match. The Frenchwoman has exceptional variety and hand skills, but nothing that should worry Pegula. The American is coming off one of the best Grand Slam tournaments of her career, and this is a match she should seamlessly win.
