Amanda Anisimova and Wang Xinyu meet in the first round of the 2024 China Open in Beijing. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Here's our Amanda Anisimova vs Wang Xinyu prediction. This article will also contain an Amanda Anisimova vs Wang Xinyu pick.
Amanda Anisimova vs Wang Xinyu Preview
Amanda Anisimova has played some spectacular tennis in the past month, most notably in Toronto, where she reached her first WTA 1000 final. In that run in Canada, Anismova defeated World No. 2 and reigning US Open champion Aryna Sabalenka and new Top 10 entrant Emma Navarro.
It’s easy to forget that Anismova is a former Grand Slam semifinalist, but a lot has happened since that breakthrough run at Roland Garros a few years ago. The death of her father and subsequent emotional toil and burnout resulting from competing on the WTA Tour forced her to shut down her 2023 season early. She has lost three of her last four matches and didn’t have a great time in Seoul this past week, where she struggled with the heat in the second round.
Wang Xinyu is competing at the China Open for the third time in her career. She reached the round of 16 last year, upsetting Daria Kasatkina en route to her best achievement at her home tournament.
Wang is 26-22 for the season, although she has not won back-to-back matches since Wimbledon. Wang has a negative win-loss record on hard courts this season of 13-14. She was in action most recently at the Thailand Open in Hua Hin, where she suffered a second-round defeat to Rebeka Masarova.

Amanda Anisimova vs Wang Xinyu Prediction
This should be a fun match between two players who will be desperate to get back to winning ways. Neither of them has been in good form lately, but it is Anisimova who has impressed on hard courts, reaching the final in Toronto last month. The American’s attacking brand of tennis should give her the impetus to get on the front foot here.
