Lorenzo Musetti and Alibek Kachmazov meet in the semifinal of the 2024 Chengdu Open. The match is scheduled for Monday, September 23, 2024. Here's our Lorenzo Musetti vs Alibek Kachmazov prediction. This article will also contain a Lorenzo Musetti vs Alibek Kachmazov pick.
Lorenzo Musetti vs Alibek Kachmazov Preview
Lorenzo Musetti advanced into his eighth semifinal of the season in all competitions after overcoming Adrian Mannarino in three sets. Musetti, the top seed at the Chengdu Open, has not won a title in two years and will see this as a golden chance to end that long drought.
In his victory over Mannarino, he hammered eight aces to two double faults and landed 67% of first serves. Musetti won 77% of first-serve points (46/60) and 55% of second-serve points (16/29). The Italian converted four of 12 break points and saved three out of four on his own delivery.
Alibek Kachmazov is having the best week of his life. The largely unknown Russian, ranked 252 in the world rankings, secured the biggest win of his career in the quarterfinal over 28th-ranked Nicolas Jarry, 6-3, 6-4, in an hour and 34 minutes.
Kachmazov dropped just one point on his first serve during the match (21/22) and was also impressive on his second serve (won 21 out of 34 points). Kachmazov tallied 12 winners to five unforced errors in a clinical performance in which he did not face a single break point.

Lorenzo Musetti vs Alibek Kachmazov Prediction
Kachmazov is yet to drop a set from the qualifying rounds of the Chengdu Open. This run was made more impressive with that colorful straight-sets win over Jarry. But he's now facing the top seed, Musetti, who has enjoyed a stellar season that only misses an ATP title to his name. The Italian has shown his mettle by escaping with a pair of tight three-set wins to reach the semis. Kachmazov can definitely make a match out of this with his powerful serving and potentially steal a set. So, we could be seeing another three-set match involving the top seed.
