Magdalena Frech, meanwhile, reached her second WTA final of the season with a gusty performance and win over Caroline Garcia. Frech won 7-6, 7-5 in two hours and eight minutes. Frech, from Poland, accounted for seven double faults in the match with only one ace but made up with her excellent defense, whereby she saved eight of 12 beak points.

The World No. 43 was also very good on her return, winning 77% of second-serve return points and breaking the Frenchwoman five times. She saved two set points in the first set and also fought back from a deficit in the second set to prevail.

Gadecki has been the surprise package at the tournament, coming from qualifying and beating three accomplished names in Stephens, Collins, and Trevisan. But that won't matter in the final, as she'll have to do it all over again. Frech is probably the player under massive pressure in this final. She is higher ranked in this matchup and is playing in her second WTA final (she lost in the Prague final). That could work well for the young Australian who has lost just one set from six matches right from qualifying.
