Seventh seed Veronika Kudermetova will play Colombia's Camila Osorio in the second round of the 2024 Guadalajara Open. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Here's our Veronika Kudermetova vs Camila Osorio prediction. This article will also contain a Veronika Kudermetova vs Camila Osorio pick.
Veronika Kudermetova vs Camila Osorio Preview
Veronika Kudermetova is coming off a straight sets win over American lucky loser Sachia Vickery which took 20 games to decide. In the victory, which took an hour and 40 minutes, Kudermetova tallied two aces to three double faults and landed 61% of first serves.
The Russian won 60% of first-serve points (29/48) and 52% of second-serve points (16/31). She converted all five of her break points in the match. The win was Kudermetova's 13th for the season, and she has recently lost her spot in the Top 40. She had lost her last four matches before arriving in Guadalajara this week.
Camila Osorio, meanwhile, also opened her 2024 Guadalajara Open campaign with a straight-sets win over Hailey Baptiste that took 17 games to decide. In the victory, which took an hour and eight minutes, the Colombian compiled two aces to five double faults.
Osorio landed 51% of first serves and won 96% of first-serve points (24/25). She won 42% of second-serve points (10/24) and converted all four of her break points. The World No. 80 kept the American at bay for most of the afternoon as she saved four of five break points on her own serve. Osorio has never advanced beyond the second round in Guadalajara, but can she take advantage of an off-color Kudermtova to end that barren spell in the city?

Veronika Kudermetova vs Camila Osorio Prediction
Kudermetova has had a poor year and could soon find herself outside the top 50. It's crunch time for the Russian with a title defense in Tokyo coming up, so these 500 points on offer this week are valuable. But I don't trust her right now and even in these conditions, which are tailor-made for her big game to flourish. She struggled to get any sort of rhythm on that serve in her opening match against Vickery, and it probably explains why she will start this match against Osorio as the underdog.
