Top seed Jannik Sinner will play 12th seed and home favorite Taylor Fritz in the final of the 2024 US Open men's singles. The match is scheduled for Sunday, September 8, 2024. Here's our Jannik Sinner vs Taylor Fritz prediction. This article will also contain a Jannik Sinner vs Taylor Fritz pick.

Jannik Sinner vs Taylor Fritz Preview

Jannik Sinner became the first Italian man to reach the US Open final. He did so convincingly, ending British interest in the tournament by defeating the high-flying Jack Draper in straight sets. The first two sets of their semifinal were very competitive, with Sinner only managing to break the Draper serve twice.

Ultimately, the World No. 1 won the points that mattered, including the second-set tie-break, which killed the Briton's confidence. Draper appeared to be struggling physically in the third set, though he did not throw in the towel, forcing Sinner to earn the victory.

It will be a historic moment for Taylor Fritz, who defeated fellow American Frances Tiafoe in the second semi-final at primetime. The World No. 12 fought back from two sets to one down to win 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in three hours and 21 minutes.

In the victory, Fritz hammered 16 aces to three double faults and landed 58% first serves. He won 75% of first-serve points (57/76) and 65% of second-serve points (36/55). Fritz converted six of 11 break points in the win. He is the first American man to appear in a Grand Slam final since 2006.

Jannik Sinner vs Taylor Fritz Head-To-Head

• Sinner and Fritz have split their two ATP meetings, which both took place in Indian Wells. Fritz won their first clash three years ago in straight sets before the Italian came out on top in their rematch last year in three sets.

Jannik Sinner vs Taylor Fritz Prediction

This is a very interesting matchup of two men who have deservedly got here amid all the bedlam and upsets during the tournament. For Fritz, it will be the first taste of a major final, but he doesn't lack the experience of competing at the top level against the ATP's best, having been a Top 20 mainstay for a long time. Sinner, however, is the right favorite in this match after a stellar season, which perhaps has only been stained by the recent revelation of his failed doping test at Indian Wells. But aside from that, he's been the man to beat pretty much all year, and the ATP race provides plenty of evidence. Fritz possesses the tools to hurt him, but I highly doubt he can sustain it in a best-of-five set match. So, I'll go with the World No. 1 to win his second major title.
