Emma Navarro will play Amanda Anisimova in the semifinal of the 2024 National Bank Open in Toronto, Canada. The match is scheduled for Sunday, August 4, 2024. Here's our Emma Navarro vs Amanda Anisimova prediction. This article will also include a Emma Navarro vs Amanda Anisimova pick.
Emma Navarro vs Amanda Anisimova Preview
It's a year of firsts for Emma Navarro, and on Saturday, she secured her spot in the semifinal of a WTA 1000 event for the first time. The 23-year-old won an all-American quarterfinal clash against lucky loser Taylor Townsend.
Navarro played a superb match in very hot and windy conditions. Townsend, who came into the match steaming with confidence after demolishing Jelena Ostapenko, could not adapt and was error-prone for the most part, accounting for 44 unforced errors. Navarro was disciplined and won 6-3, 7-6 to pick up her 45th match win of a career-best season.
Amanda Anisimova meanwhile pulled off the upset of the tournament. She eliminated second seed Aryna Sabalenka with a clinical 6-4, 6-2 win. It was her first Top 10 victory in almost two years, and it was fully merited.
Anismova benefitted from a bad at the office by Sabalenka, who hammered eight double faults in the match. By contrast, Anismova had better numbers on serve. She landed 58% first serves and won 66% first-serve points (23/35) and 56% second-serve points (14/25). She also converted four of five break points while saving five of six on her own serve.

Emma Navarro vs Amanda Anisimova Prediction
I watched Anisimova play in Washington this past week, where it was scorching hot, and she really struggled in the heat, losing to Caroline Dolehide. While I'm fully aware of her talent and potential (former World No. 21 and Grand Slam semifinalist), consistency remains her biggest drawback, at least this year. We can't forget she also took a mental health break last year when her game was all over the place. She has turned a corner in the two hard-court tournaments she has played this summer, but Navarro is the player enjoying a much better season. I felt she would struggle against Townsend, but something about her adaptability to harsh playing conditions should give her the edge over Anisimova.
