Fourth seed Alexander Zverev will square off against 13th seed Taylor Fritz in the fourth round of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The match is scheduled for Monday, July 8, 2024. Here's our Alexander Zverev vs Taylor Fritz prediction.
Alexander Zverev vs Taylor Fritz Preview
Alexander Zverev progressed into the fourth round of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships with a straight-sets win over home favorite Cameron Norrie. Zverev overcame a mid-match scare when he slipped on the court and hurt his knee but was cleared to continue.
Zverev was playing in front of sporting royalty, including Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. And he dazzled in a 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 victory in two and a half hours. He saved five set points in a dramatic and lengthy tie-break in the third set, before prevailing 17-15.
Taylor Fritz, for his part, has dropped just one set in his run to the fourth round. That was in the chaotic second-round win over Arthur Rinderknech. The American kept his composure to beat the rapidly improving Alejandro Tabilo in straight sets in under two hours in the third round.
The match took 34 games to decide. Fritz hammered 20 aces to one double fault in the match. He landed 72% first serves and won 92% first-serve points (56/61). The 13th seed won 71% second-serve points (17/24)and converted two of 14 break points.
Alexander Zverev vs Taylor Fritz Head-To-Head
• Zverev leads Fritz 5-3 in their head-to-head.
• They have played twice at Wimbledon before, with Zverev emerging victorious in 2018 and 2021.
Alexander Zverev vs Taylor Fritz Prediction
Zverev produced a super performance of baseline solidity and discipline in beating Norrie. He shook off a mid-match slip and a potential knee injury to complete a straight-sets victory but raised concern after the match when he said he was still feeling some pain. Fritz had been carrying an injury after the French Open but has recovered by the looks of things, given his strong performances in the first week. There’s a good chance we’ll get four or more sets here.
