Iga Swiatek and Marketa Vondrousova square off in the quarterfinal of the 2024 French Open. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Here's our Iga Swiatek vs Marketa Vondrousova prediction.
Iga Swiatek vs Marketa Vondrousova Preview
Iga Swiatek bulldozed her way into the quarterfinal of the 2024 French Open with a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash of unseeded Anastasia Potapova. The match lasted a measly 40 minutes, the shortest at the clay-court Grand Slam in 26 years and the SHORTEST in Swiatek's career. It was a demolition job; that's the easiest way to put it because it's an inconceivable scoreline in the second week of a major. It was also a measure of revenge for some of her losses to the Russian on the junior circuit almost a decade ago.
Marketa Vondrousova, meanwhile, also raced to the finish line, but not as quick as the Pole. She defeated one of the surprise packages at the tournament in Olga Danilovic, the Serbian qualifier who upset 11th seed Danielle Collins and Croatia's Donna Vekic. Vondrousova dropped six games in a fine display of accurate serving and efficient shotmaking. Fatigue had built up in Danilovic's body, having battled three rounds of qualifying before the main draw, and Vondrousova made good use of the whole court to draw the errors she needed for the victory. It's the Czech lefty's first quarterfinal at the French Open since 2019, the same year she went on to make her first Grand Slam final and lost to Ashleigh Barty.

Iga Swiatek vs Marketa Vondrousova Prediction
Odds on Vondrousova have grown as big as +1045, which tells you she's facing a herculean task. But if anything, Swiatek is still human and is not immune to having a bad day in the office. Unfortunately for Vondrousova, that day has passed. The Pole got over the hump in the second round when she saved a match point against Naomi Osaka to remain alive in this tournament. And the inevitable projection is that she should win the title from here.
