Third seed Carlos Alcaraz will face ninth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinal of the 2024 French Open. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Here's our Carlos Alcaraz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas prediction.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Preview
Carlos Alcaraz breezed past Felix Auger-Aliassime for the loss of seven games. And aside from his opening day beatdown of J.J. Wolf (lost four games), the match against the Canadian was definitely the most comfortable he has looked on the court at this year's French Open. He needed just two hours and 16 minutes and capitalized on his chances against an off-color Auger-Aliassime, who had a horrendous serving display that resulted in five double faults and six breaks. For Alcaraz, this couldn't have been timely as he reaches the business end of the tournament feeling healthy again.
Stefanos Tsitsipas has set up a rematch against Carlos Alcaraz at the French Open for the second year in a row. He's had to battle past some sticky tests in the first week and did so commendably. Tsitsipas' campaign kicked off with wins over Marton Fucsovics, Daniel Altmaier, and Zhizhen Zhang, dropping just one set. In the fourth round, he defeated Andrey Rublev's conqueror Matteo Arnaldi from a set down to win in four sets. He limited the Italian's full use of the court with his pin-point forehand and that exquisite spinning backhand that works a treat on clay.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Head-To-Head
• Alcaraz leads Tsitsipas 5-0 in their head-to-head.
• Their last three meetings have been on clay, with Alcaraz losing just one set.
• Alcaraz is seeking a second straight semifinal at Roland Garros. Tsitsipas will target his third.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction
Tsitsipas has a great track record at this tournament, reaching the final in 2021 (losing to Novak Djokovic), but he has not been remotely close to solving the Alcaraz riddle. In five previous meetings, he lost all of them and only managed to win three sets in the series. Moreover, he is scheduled to play two doubles matches (one in mixed doubles with girlfriend Paula Badosa) on Monday, which is hardly ideal, before playing in a more intense match with Alcaraz. You couldn't go wrong taking the Spaniard to win this on the ML.
