Danielle Collins and Madison Keys will contest an all-American final at the 2024 Strasbourg Open. The match is scheduled for Saturday, May 25, 2024. Here's our Danielle Collins vs Madison Keys prediction.
Danielle Collins vs Madison Keys Preview
Danielle Collins has played another blinder this week in Strasbourg as she powered into her third final of the season. The American is 2-0 in her last two title bouts, beating World No. 4 Elena Rybakina to win the Miami Open and Daria Kasatina to win in Charleston. She is vying to win her third WTA title of the season and second at 500 level. Collins has not dropped a set all week, and despite the inclement weather, which made her wait to learn her semifinal opponent, it did not disrupt her rhythm. Can she overcome compatriot Keys on Saturday?
Madison Keys will play in her first final of the season. The former US Open finalist began her 2024 campaign in March after struggling with injury in the first two months of the season. She went 3-2 on hard courts playing in Indian Wells and Miami, but she's been impressive on the terre battue, emerging as one of the most consistent performers on the European clay swing. Although she was slow off the blocks in her home tournament in Charleston, the big-hitting 29-year-old advanced into the quarterfinals or better in each tournament since, including the WTA 1000s in Madrid and Rome, losing each time to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek.
Danielle Collins vs Madison Keys Head-To-Head
• Collins and Keys are tied at 1-1 in their head-to-head.
• They last played at the 2020 Brisbane International, where Keys won in straight sets.
• The 2024 Strasbourg final will be their first official meeting on clay.
Danielle Collins vs Madison Keys Prediction
Collins and Keys have been standout performers at this year's clay-court swing. The soon-to-retire American already has a title to show for her efforts (Charleston). And had it not been for Iga Swiatek, Keys might have added to her trophy cabinet too. She'll get another shot here, although facing an in-form Collins was probably not her ideal scenario. Expect a lot of heavy hitting in this one, and I can see Keys matching Collins in power and placement. The Keys forehand has been a devastating shot that's been firing on all cylinders. It would still be wise to side with Collins, who has won 15 of her last 17 clay-court matches, but I could see this one going to three.
