Second seed Aryna Sabalenka will face in-form American Danielle Collins in the pick of fourth-round matches at the 2024 Madrid Open. The match is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 29, 2024. Here's our Aryna Sabalenka vs Danielle Collins prediction.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Danielle Collins Preview

Aryna Sabalenka has weathered the storm at this year's Madrid Open, winning a pair of three-set matches to reach the second week. The defending champion has been far from her best form since winning the Australian Open. In fact, she has stuttered four times after capturing her second Grand Slam title. It's not a good sign that the Belarusian remains sluggish in her game because her next opponent boasts the best winning streak on tour right now.

Danielle Collins is riding on a 15-match win streak at tour level. That run dates back from the start of the Miami Open in late March, where she lifted her biggest WTA title to date, beating World No. 4 Elena Rybakina in the final. Collins added a second crown just shortly after when she won in Charleston, where she only dropped one set in six matches and defeated two Top 10 players during the week. Her streak came under threat on Sunday night when she lost the first set of her third-round match in Madrid to Jaqueline Cristian. But the American's resilience won the day as she battled back by breaking the Romanian qualifier three times to earn a hard-fought victory.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Danielle Collins Head-To-Head

Aryna Sabalenka leads Danielle Collins 4-0 in their head-to-head match. They last played at the US Open two years ago, and the Belarusian emerged victorious in three sets.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Danielle Collins Prediction

This is the first meeting between Sabalenka and Collins on clay. Both these two players are some of the biggest hitters on tour, with Sabalenka probably just beating Collins for the top spot in that department marginally. But the player who has been extremely disciplined with her abundance of power has been Collins, at least for most of this year. Sabalenka was hot in Australia, where she won the year's first Grand Slam without dropping a set. But we cannot emphasize enough how poor she's been since. She's already lost two sets in the first week at the Madrid Open against players (with all due respect) she ought to have beaten quite routinely. The least we can expect from Collins here is to take a set. Her confidence is through the roof right now, having won 15 in a row, and is well worth the price to end the Belarusian's reign in Madrid.

Recommended bet: Collins to win a set
