Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas will be chasing for their first title of the season when they clash in the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters final. The match will be played on Sunday, April 14, 2024. Here's our Casper Ruud vs Stefanos Tsitsipas prediction.
Ruud stuns Djokovic to reach third final of 2024
Casper Ruud is back to playing top-10 tennis again this season and proved his clay-court expertise by going by one round better than last week. Ruud earned his first win over world no. 1 Novak Djokovic on the sixth attempt on Saturday to reach his first final in Monte Carlo and third overall this year. The Norwegian bested the Serb 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, arrowing 23 winners past an inconsistent Djokovic. It's the first time he's beaten a Top 3 player, and he will get just his second chance (Miami 2022 final) to contest a final at Masters level.
Tsitsipas inflicts second defeat of Sinner's season
Stefanos Tsitsipas, much like Ruud, had to defy the odds to reach his third Monte Carlo final. There are no surfaces and playing conditions that suit Tsitsipas much better than those currently in Monaco. The 25-year-old secured one of his best wins in a while by beating word no. 2 Jannik Sinner in three sets in Saturday's semifinal, just 24 hours after outplaying rival Alexander Zverev. Tsitsipas controversially fought back from going a double break down in the final set before finishing on flourish. He won four straight games from 2-4 down in the third set against an ailing Sinner who hurt his knee in the closing stages of the match.
Casper Ruud vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Head-To-Head
Ruud and Tsitsipas are tied at 2-2 in their head-to-head although their lone clay-court meeting was won by the Norwegian in Madrid three years ago.
Casper Ruud vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction
Both players deservedly got here, and we should get a final full of entertainment and world-class tennis. Tsitsipas is set for an imminent return to the world's Top 10, just a few weeks after leaving it for the first time since 2019. Ruud had also left the ATP's elite group before turning his season around in late February. Tsitipas has had a much better run into the championship match than Ruud and has the upper hand when it comes to triumphing at this level, more so in Monte Carlo, where he has a terrific record. His dead-eyed focus and composure this week should get him over the line.
