10th seed Hubert Hurkacz will face British lefty Jack Draper in the second round of the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters. The match will be played on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Here's our Hubert Hurkacz vs Jack Draper prediction.
Hubert Hurkacz
Hubert Hurkacz clinched his first ATP title on clay courts at last week's Estoril Open, defeating Pedro Martinez in the final. Hurkacz dropped one set en route during his fantastic week in Portugal, and his serve was broken only three times in four matches. It was some week for the towering Pole, who is the most destructive server in men's tennis right now if numbers are anything to go by. It is not that clay favors players of his profile, but the 27-year-old is a versatile specimen, and it is unsurprising to see his game click on his least preferred surface.
Jack Draper
Jack Draper will play his first match of this year's clay swing. Draper is 9-6 for the season, recording his best results on the hard courts of Adelaide (finalist) and Acapulco (semifinalist). He has won just one of his last four matches and was beaten by Nicolas Jarry in a third-set tiebreaker in Miami at the end of March. The Briton has only played 31 matches on clay in his young career and retired from last year's Roland Garros after playing just one set in his first-round match.
Hubert Hurkacz vs Jack Draper Head-To-Head
Hurkacz and Draper have met three times on the ATP Tour. The Pole leads the head-to-head 2-1, although he was routinely beaten by the young man from Sutton at last year's US Open.
Hubert Hurkacz vs Jack Draper Prediction
Remarkably, this will be a rerun of their second-round match 12 months ago at this same tournament. Hurkacz won that one 7-5 in the third. The Pole will feel at home, having accumulated four wins during his title success in Estoril. Add to Draper's comparative lack of experience on clay, and the pendulum swings even further in Hurkacz's favor. With that said, it will be best to exploit the games market here by taking either player to cover over 11.5 of their games or going for a slightly riskier stake of over 22.5 games in the match.
