Paula Badosa vs Tamara Zidansek French Open Tennis Picks and Predictions 6/8/21
Tamara Zidansek and Paula Badosa meet in the quarterfinals of the 2021 tennis French Open.
Tamara Zidansek is coming off a straight sets win over Sorana-Mihaela Cirstea that took 20 games to decide. In the victory, Zidansek won 67 percent of her first serve points and 58 percent of her second serve points. Zidansek won 64 percent of her total service points and converted on three of her four break points. Zidansek saved six of her seven break points and has now won her last three tiebreaks. Zidansek has a shot to advance if she keeps getting her first serve in play at a high percentage. Zidansek hopes to make her first career grand slam semifinal appearance. Zidansek has won six of her last seven matches on clay court.
Paula Badosa is coming off a three sets win over Marketa Vondrousova that took 27 games to decide. In the victory, Badosa won 69 percent of her first serve points and 48 percent of her second serve points. Badosa won 62 percent of her total service points and converted on five of her 10 break points. Badosa was dominant in a deciding third set where she broke three times and hit 10 winners. Badosa has now won each of her last six matches that have gone the distance. Badosa hopes to make her first career grand slam semifinal appearance. Badosa has won 10 of her last 11 matches on clay court.
There’s no match history between these two players.
This is going to be interesting considering neither player has been on this stage and nerves often play a role in these spots. With that said, Badosa is more comfortable on clay and has been on a tear this season with wins in 10 of her last 11 clay matches. Zidansek has had her struggles at times on this surface and her high unforced errors total will likely be her downfall.
I’ll take Badosa, and I’ll back her in straight sets to shave down the ML price.
