Dusan Lajovic meets Lorenzo Sonego in the second-round of the 2020 Rio de Janeiro Open. Who will book their spot in the quarterfinals?
Lorenzo Sonego is finally back on clay. Sonego had a great 2019 season, making a name for himself, and winning his first ATP Title on clay. Sonego its a very strong player on this surface as his serve is big, he is able to move quickly around the court, and he is extremely passionate. Sonego beat Leonardo Mayer in a very tough first-round match. Sonego did not impress too much in the final two sets of that match as he did not find consistency in his game. If Sonego wants to go further here in Rio he will need to improve this for his next match.
Dusan Lajovic is an extremely experienced player who has finally achieved his peak. Lajovic has had an incredible year. In 2019, he was able to achieve his first Masters 1000 Final in Monte-Carlo and this year he was a vital part of Team Serbia's victory in the ATP Cup. Lajovic has an amazing serve, and his backhand is a thing of beauty. Lajovic knows he can compete here in Rio and he has a real chance of going far in the tournament.
This will be the second meeting between both players, with Lajovic winning their prior encounter. Lajovic has more experience and has played more on clay this year, this will allow him to a better feel for the courts in my opinion, and after a tight match he will eventually win.
Dusan Lajovic to win.
