The semi-finals of the second clay-court tournament of the year are here! We have some exciting matchups coming up and here are my predictions!
Diego Schwartzman vs. Pedro Sousa:
Diego Schwartzman meets Pedro Sousa in what should be a highly interesting semi-final. Schwartzman enters this match as the favourite and rightly so. Schwartzman is amazing on clay compared to Sousa. However, this might be tighter than expected. Schwartzman has been far from his best recently and in his match yesterday he did have an injury scare. At the end though, Schwartzman should come out victorious as he is playing at home, and I am sure he will come out playing differently today. Pedro Sousa has found some new form here in Buenos Aires, but at moments in his matches he seemed to have struggled a lot. Sousa booked his spot in the semi-finals however with a shock victory with one of the men of the moment, Thiago Monteiro. But at the end of the day, he is no opponent to Schwartzman. Schwartzman will make the final.
Pick: Diego Schwartzman
Casper Ruud vs. Juan Ignacio Londero:
Juan Ignacio Londero meets up and coming star, Casper Ruud, in the semi-final on Saturday. Londero has had some luck getting to the semi-finals as last year he struggled with consistency, but he seems to have found some here at some moments. On the other hand, Casper Ruud has played incredible tennis here in Buenos Aires and seems to be extremely confident. Ruud is a great player, he is very powerful and is quick around the court. This match will be an easier match to play for Ruud as I believe Londero will feel the pressure. Londero knows Ruud is more than capable of beating him, and with Londero playing in his home country, the pressure will be too much on him to win this match. Ruud has played better all tournament, and I think his confidence allows him to win the big points here.
Pick: Casper Ruud
