Leonardo Mayer vs. Jaume Lunar - 2020 Cordoba Open First Round
Tuesday, February 4 2020
Two clay court specialists, Jaume Lunar and Leonardo Mayer, meet on Tuesday, February 4 2020, in the first-round of the Cordoba Open.
Jaume Munar has been pretty silent recently in the big ATP tournaments and has been focusing more on developing his clay court game in challenger events. Munar is an incredible talent and if he continues to work hard he will one day challenge for the big titles in tennis. Munar is one of Rafael Nadal's prodigies and is looking to show the world how good he can be. Munar has a great 2019 season but will want to find more consistency in his game in 2020.
Leonardo Mayer is also a great clay courter, but is 10 years Munar's senior. Mayer has a lot of experience on clay but he has not played his best tennis in a long time. Leonardo Mayer's top of 2019, came when he nearly won a set off of Nadal in Monte-Carlo, but since then he has not been playing anywhere near where he needs to if he wants to compete in tournaments.
These two players have played only once before, with Munar winning the match in straight sets in Rio last year. I don't see this match being any different, I do not see Mayer being able to compete with the younger and faster Munar around the court. Munar has been training hard this off-season and it will show on Tuesday.
Munar to win.
