American NextGen star, Taylor Fritz, meets Austrian, Dominic Thiem, in the third round of the 2020 Australian Open on Saturday January 25 2020.

Taylor Fritz came back from 2 sets down against Kevin Anderson and showed the world that he is a very strong player and someone to look out for in the future. Fritz had a great season in 2019 and it is looking like the American has begun 2020 the same way he played in 2019. Fritz has a big serve and is able to move fast around the court. Taylor Fritz’s match against Anderson was an amazing show of skill and determination to win. Will he be able to overcome the world number 5 Dominic Thiem?

Dominic Thiem also played a long match in the second round. A match which should have been a routine straight sets victory against a lower ranked opponent, ended up being a 5 set thriller in which Thiem had to fight hard to book his spot in the third round. Thiem is an amazing player and whenever you watch him you can feel the power that he puts in his shots and his amazing ability to move opponents around the court.

This will be the fourth meeting between these two players and Dominic Thiem leads the H2H 2-1. They have played twice in Grand Slams and Thiem won them both in 4 sets. Fritz got his only win over Thiem at the 2019 Laver Cup in a match where Thiem was not feeling very well physically. I believe that this match will be similar to their prior Grand Slam meetings and that Thiem will come out victorious.

Thiem in 4 sets.

Liam’s Pick Thiem in 4 sets (+275)
