The English Premier League continues with Round 10 matches this weekend. An overture for those weekend fixtures will be the London derby between Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park on Friday, October 27, 2023. Spurs are top of the table with 23 points, 11 more than the Eagles. Alongside bitter rivals Arsenal, Tottenham are the only team in the EPL without a loss so far. Have a look at our Crystal Palace vs Tottenham betting preview and prediction.
Crystal Palace (Form and News)
The Premier League’s (PL) unusual Friday night kick-off slot begins the tenth round of action this season, with a London derby between Crystal Palace and Tottenham taking center stage. After a perfectly split record over the first nine rounds (W3, D3, L3), Crystal Palace will be reasonably happy with a solid start that sees them closer to the European places than the relegation zone by way of points.
It’s not all been plain sailing for Palace, who were trounced 4-0 by Newcastle at the weekend and felt the wrath of boss Roy Hodgson in the aftermath as he labeled their performance as “woefully short”. He went on to insist there were no positives to take from the afternoon, and his mood certainly wouldn’t have been lifted when he realized Spurs were up next. Namely, Palace have a poor recent record against Tottenham, but we’ll discuss that later.
Hot stat: There hasn’t been a single goal scored in the first half of a Crystal Palace home league game this season.
Player to watch: Odsonne Édouard was at the double the last time Palace beat Spurs in the PL, netting a brace after the 80th minute on what was his Selhurst Park debut.
Roy Hodgson will be without Eberechi Eze (muscle), Dean Henderson (thigh), and James Tomkins (calf). Nathan Ferguson (thigh), Michael Olise (thigh), and Michael Olise (knock) are questionable to feature on Friday.
Tottenham (Form and News)
While positives are few and far between at Palace, they’re plentiful at Tottenham, who hold a two-point lead atop the PL table. The chance to open up a five-point gap to the chasing pack before the weekend’s action is the stuff of dreams for Spurs, but in an attempt to retain focus, boss Ange Postecoglou described their second-half performance in Monday’s 2-0 win against Fulham as the “worst” since he took charge in the summer.
The Aussie boss ought not to be too despondent though, as it was actually a record-breaking evening for him and his team. The 23 points Postecoglou has earned so far this term represents the highest tally attained by a manager in their first nine Premier League games in charge, while Spurs’ opening to the season (W7, D2) is their fastest start to a campaign since 1960/61 when they went on to do the double!
Player to watch: Spurs’ stopper Guglielmo Vicario boasts a joint-PL high four clean sheets this term.
Postecoglou cannot count on injured Rodrigo Bentancur (knee), Ivan Perisic (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (thigh), Manor Solomon (knee), and Alfie Whiteman (ankle). Pape Matar Sarr (illness) and Destiny Udogie (muscle) are questionable to play.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Betting Pick
Although I don’t think Spurs will be at the top for much longer, I do expect them to earn three points on Friday and finish Round 10 in the 1st place. Tottenham have the second-best defense in the Premier League; they conceded eight goals, only Manchester City allowed fewer (7). On the other hand, Crystal Palace have the second-worst attack in the league. The Eagles scored just seven goals, which is only 0.77 per game.
A well-organized defense and excellent offense with Son Heung-Min, who scored the same amount of goals as Crystal Palace, to lead it, will be a lot to handle for the hosts. Act quickly and back Spurs while the odds are attractive. I believe they will drop hours before the kick-off.
