Over 2.5 (-225), Under 2.5 (+175)
RB Leipzig is welcoming Freiburg to Red Bull Arena in round 26 of German Bundesliga.
Leipzig has played in the second leg of the Champions League earlier this week against Tottenham and not only Leipzig has won the game, they destroyed Tottenham in every aspect of the game, and it ended 3-0 for Leipzig. Leipzig has fallen a bit behind in Bundesliga with 2 draws in a row and they are now in third place in the standings with 50 points, 5 points less than Bayern Munich at the top. With 62 scored goals, Leipzig is one of the best offensive teams in Bundesliga and in Europe overall, but their defense is not too bad either with only 26 conceded goals. In Leipzig’s last Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg on the road, they had 62% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 84% of the correct passes. This was a game where I expected goals, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. There were plenty of chances on both ends, but both goalkeepers were having a good day and this match ended in a 0-0 draw. Timo Werner is Leipzig’s top goalscorer with 21 goals, while Sabitzer added 8 goals. Nkunku added 13 assists. Coach Nagelsmann has a lot of injuries at the moment and that could have an impact on Leipzig’s performance. Konate, Orban, Kampl, and Ampadu are all injured, while Upamecano is suspended because of yellow cards. Leipzig is playing fantastic soccer this season, and if they can keep it up, Leipzig just might go pretty far in the Champions League because none of the other teams are unbeatable right now. As far as the Bundesliga goes, the difference between Leipzig and Bayern is only 5 points, and there are still plenty of games left for this to change.
Freiburg is doing remarkably well this season in Bundesliga where they are in 8th place with 36 points, just 1 point away from the Europa League spot. Freiburg has scored 34 points this season which is a solid accomplishment. On the defensive end, Freiburg is in the same hat as most of the other teams. Freiburg has conceded 35 goals. Freiburg has won only 3 of their last 8 Bundesliga games, including the one last weekend against Union Berlin. In that match, Freiburg has had 52% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and 75% of the correct passes. Freiburg was fantastic in that match and has won the game 3-1. Nils Petersen is Freiburg’s top goalscorer with 8 goals, while Waldschmidt added 5 goals. Gunter added 6 assists. Same as Leipzig, Freiburg has a lot of problems with injuries. Kubler, Abrashi, Kwon, Haberer, and Gunter are all injured and will not be playing. Freiburg ended last season in 13th place with 36 points, when this season Freiburg has 34 points with 9 games left to play, amazing improvement. I know that no one in Freiburg was expecting them to be playing this well and be this close to the European competition, but now that they are, everyone in Freiburg is excited and hoping they can reach that sixth spot in the standings.
When playing at home, Leipzig has not lost to Freiburg in their last 4 meetings, while each one of those games had a lot of chances and goals. Leipzig is 7-4-1 at home this season, while Freiburg is 4-4-5 on the road, not that the home field means anything without the fans in the stands. Leipzig is filled with confidence after their win against Tottenham and I see them here getting another one in Bundesliga.
