Over 2.5 (-135), Under 2.5 (+137)
Aston Villa is welcoming Chelsea to Villa Park in part of round 30 of the English Premier League.
Aston Villa has lost 5 straight games and because of that, they are now in 19th place with 25 points, in the relegation zone. The good news for Aston Villa is that the safe zone is only 2 points away, and with 10 games left, their chances are solid. Aston Villa has scored 34 goals this season, which isn’t bad for a team that got promoted this season, but 56 conceded goals are a disaster and Aston Villa is the worst defensive team in the EPL. In their last EPL match against Leicester on the road, Aston Villa had only 36% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 0 corner kicks, and low 69% of accurate passes. Aston Villa was forced to defend this whole game, and unfortunately, they couldn’t handle the pressure. Leicester has won this game 4-0. Jack Grealish is the leading goal scorer for Aston Villa with 7 goals and 6 assists, while Wesley added 5 goals. McGinn, Wesley, Heaton, and Steer are all injured and will not be in the lineup. Aston Villa has been wildly inconsistent this season which is expected from most of the teams that get promoted to the EPL, but the EPL was also really competitive this season. There are still plenty of games left for Aston Villa to secure their EPL spot next season, but for that to happen coach Smith must change something and get his team back in form.
Chelsea is in 4th place in the EPL standings with 48 points, 3 points ahead from Manchester United in 5th place. After their loss in the Round of 16 in the Champions League at home, Chelsea was able to get back on track with a draw and 2 wins in their last 3 games. In their last EPL match at home last week against Everton, Chelsea was absolutely fantastic. Chelsea had 60% of ball possession, 11 shots on target, 6 corner kicks, and 89% of the correct passes. This time the stats are telling us exactly as it was. Chelsea was dominant, constantly attacking, creating a lot of chances, and in the end, Chelsea has won this match 4-0. This victory was just what Chelsea needed to stay clear of Manchester United and to get back on winning track before their Champions League match against Bayern next week. Sure, Chelsea lost the first leg 0-3, and the only thing left for Bayern to do is to show up, but Chelsea has the quality to make life harder for Bayern. Tammy Abraham has scored 13 goals for Chelsea this season, while Mount added 6 goals. Pulisic, Abraham, Kovacic, and van Ginkel are all injured, and coach Lampard will not have them at his disposal. I believe that Chelsea will be able to keep the 4th place they are at right now, but I don’t think that Chelsea will be able to beat Bayern in Munich next week to advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Chelsea is also playing in the FA Cup where they will face Leicester City if nothing gets canceled due to the Coronavirus of course. Chelsea is a fantastic young team, and their best is yet to come. Watch for Chelsea next season guys, with a few additions to the team, Chelsea will be a legit competitor for the EPL title.
Aston Villa didn’t have a lot of success against Chelsea in the past and taking their current form into consideration, it will stay that way. Chelsea was struggling a bit with scoring goals, but that has changed recently, and I think Aston Villa will have a bad time here.
