Over 2.5 (-110), Under 2.5 (-110)
Chelsea is hosting Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in a derby match or round 26 of the English Premier League.
Chelsea has had some good results as of late, but they haven’t been consistent in their game. Chelsea has lost only 1 of their last 8 games and is in 4th place in the EPL standings with 41 points. In their last three games, Chelsea has scored 6 goals, while conceding 5 goals. The defense has been something Chelsea was struggling a lot this season, but in this case that doesn’t mean that Chelsea is a bad team, just inexperienced because they are a young team. In their last EPL match against Leicester away from home, Chelsea had 51% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 78% of the correct passes. The first half of this match was kind of slow and not much was happening, the second half, on the other hand, was fantastic. We witnessed 4 goals, plenty of opportunities and good moves. This match ended in a 2-2 draw. Chelsea is also playing in the Champions League against Bayern Munich in 2 weeks, a matchup that will certainly put this young team to the test. The offense wasn’t Chelsea’s problem this season and they scored 43 goals in 23 games. Tammy Abraham has scored 13 goals for Chelsea, while Pulisic and Mount each added 5 goals. Van Ginkel, Loftus-Cheek, and Pulisic are injured, while Abraham is still questionable, but judging by the reports, he should be in the lineup. Chelsea is a great team with a lot of talent, and more importantly, the coach that knows how to utilize that talent. This season, Chelsea is good, but next season they will be great.
Manchester United has been everything but consistent this season and because of that, they are in low 9th place in the EPL standings with 35 points. Judging by their last three games, Manchester’s form is slowly improving, but given how inconsistent United has been, I’m not convinced this will last. In their last EPL match against Wolverhampton at home, United has been solid with 63% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 88% of accurate passes. I can’t say this was a bad game for United, they were good on the defensive end, they lacked imagination in the midfield but stayed compact. The only thing United was missing is the striker that can score a goal because, without Rashford, United’s offense doesn’t exist. Rashford has scored 14 goals for United this season, while Martial added 8 goals. Tuanzebe, McTominay, Pogba, and Rashford are injured, while United’s newest acquisition, Odion Ighalo is in the quarantine because of the suspicion he has the Coronavirus. He was bought from China in United’s desperate search for a striker. When Solskjaer became United’s head coach last season, he brought the new dimension to the team and United was playing great soccer, with the fantastic offense. This season everything changed and United is just a shadow of the team from last season, with an occasional blitz in their game. Next week United will play against Club Brugge in the Europa League, a competition that Manchester United must try and win because this is their only chance of getting qualified for the Champions League next season. I know I am critical about Manchester United, but they have so much unused talent that Solskjaer can’t use. Of course, some of their signings from last season and this season are really bad, like Pereira, Dalot, and Fosu-Mensah who are a total waste of money and air in the club. A lot must change in this club for Manchester United to come back on the top of the EPL, and I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
Just by looking at the form this season, Chelsea is the obvious favorite in this game, but as I said before, Chelsea is struggling on the defensive end. I think this is going to be a good and fun game with some goals from both sides.
