Over 2.5 (-138), Under 2.5 (+110)
Barcelona is hosting Getafe at Camp Nou in a derby match of round 24 of Spanish LaLiga.
Barcelona is not consistent as of late and they are struggling on the offensive end, even more than in the defense. The reason for the struggles is that Barcelona lost Suarez due to the injury, and Dembele who recovered, but got injured just days after and will be out for the next six months with a hamstring injury. Griezman is still not playing in his old form, while Fati is a fantastic player, he is still just a 17-year-old kid. Barcelona is in second place in LaLiga standings with 49 points, 3 points less than Real Madrid at the top. Barcelona is the best offensive team in LaLiga despite all of their struggles, but 28 conceded goals in 23 games are just too much for the team that is defending the title and wants to win the Champions League. In their last LaLiga match against Betis last weekend, Barcelona had massive 71% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, and high 90% of the correct passes. Barcelona was losing twice in this match, 1-0 and 2-1, but was able to turn things around and has won this match 2-3 with 3 assists from Messi. Suarez, Dembele, and Neto are injured, while Lenglet is suspended because of the red card against Betis last week. Messi is the leading goal scorer both in Barcelona and LaLiga with 14 goals and 11 assists, while Suarez has 11 goals. Barcelona will play against Napoli in the Champions League in two weeks, a team that is slowly waking up, which means coach Setien must do everything to fix up Barcelona’s defense, and get Griezman going because Barcelona will need someone to help Messi in the attacking end.
I know this will sound weird, but Getafe is playing the best soccer in LaLiga at the moment. Getafe has won their last 4 games in LaLiga, has scored 9 goals in those 4 games, and has conceded 0 goals which is a fantastic job considering they played against Betis, Athletic Bilbao, and Valencia in their last 3 games. Getafe is now in third place in LaLiga standings with 42 points, 3 points more than Atletico Madrid and Sevilla. Getafe scored 35 goals in 23 games which is impressive for the team that hasn’t spend millions of euros on new players, but what has been impressive is their defense where they conceded only 20 goals. In their last LaLiga match against Valencia at home last week, Getafe was fantastic with 53% of ball possession, 10 shots on goal, 10 corner kicks, and 70% of accurate passes. This was one of the best games this season for Getafe where they dominated on both ends and have won 3-0. Angel Rodriguez has scored 9 goals for Getafe, while Jaime Mata added 8 goals. There are no injured players in Getafe’s roster, but Damian Suarez is suspended because of the yellow cards. Getafe is also playing in the Europa League where they will face Ajax next week, and if they keep up this good form, Getafe could potentially go pretty far in the Europa League. Before the season started, I certainly wasn’t expecting for Getafe to be this high in the standings, but the question is if they have the depth to keep fighting on two fronts. Getafe might not have a superstar on their team, but they have amazing team spirit and a bunch of players that would run until they fall down for this club.
This could be a tough match for either of the teams, but I’m giving a slight advantage to Barcelona because they are playing at home, and they have Messi on the team. Getafe is playing solid soccer on both ends, while Barcelona is struggling on the defensive end. I think both teams will score a goal here.
