Osasuna vs. Real Madrid 2/9/20 Spanish LaLiga Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction
2/9/20 10 am
Over 2.5 (-138), Under 2.5 (+110)
Osasuna is welcoming Real Madrid to Estadio El Sadar in round 23 of Spanish LaLiga.
Osasuna had had some good results recently, but they haven’t won any of their last 2 games. In the last two games, Osasuna hasn’t been playing good defense and has conceded 6 goals, while their offense wasn’t efficient with only 2 scored goals. Osasuna is safe outside the relegation zone, and not only safe, but Osasuna is also closer to the Europa League than to the relegation zone. Osasuna is in 11th place in the standings with 28 points, 29 scored goals, and 28 conceded goals. In their last LaLiga match against Villareal away from home, Osasuna had 45% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 75% of the correct passes. Overall, it was a solid game for Osasuna, but as I said earlier, Osasuna’s defense hasn’t been good as of late and Osasuna has lost this game 3-1. Until the end of the season, LaLiga will be the only competition for Osasuna because they got knocked out of the Copa del Rey, and I think this is the perfect opportunity for this small team from Pamplona to get as high as possible in LaLiga standings. Avila has scored 9 goals for Osasuna this season, while Garcia added 6 goals. Oier, Avila, and Perez are injured, while Aridane is suspended because of the yellow cards. Seeing Osasuna this high in the standings is a nice surprise, and I really hope that Osasuna can keep this up for the rest of the season.
After months of being undefeated, Real Madrid has finally lost a game. This unfortunate loss happened earlier this week in Copa del Rey against Real Sociedad who had the best game of the season. Real Madrid has lost this match 3-4, at home, and got knocked out of the Copa del Rey. The situation is different in LaLiga where Real is in the first place with 49 points, 3 points ahead of Barcelona. Real Madrid has scored 40 goals this season, and unfortunately for Real, I don’t see them getting any more efficient with Hazard still being injured. In their last LaLiga match against Atletico Madrid at home last weekend, Real Madrid was the better team with 65% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 88% of the correct passes. It was a good game for Real where they were in complete control from the beginning until the end of the match. Real Madrid has won this game 1-0. Benzema has scored 13 goals for Real Madrid and has been their best player. The problem for coach Zidane is that if Benzema is being rested or injured, there is no one to take over for him and to score goals, and I don’t see that changing before Hazard is healthy. Asensio and Diaz are also injured and will miss this game. In just over 2 weeks the Champions League is coming back, and Real Madrid will face one of the best offensive teams in Europe, Manchester City. Good news for Real Madrid is that their defense has been the best in many years this season and Real have conceded only 13 goals this season. Real might not be able to go toe to toe with City, at least not yet, and I think Real’s defense will play a huge role in this matchup.
Osasuna’s home record this season is 4-5-2, while Real Madrid is 6-4-1 away from home. Osasuna hasn’t won any of their last 5 home games against Real Madrid, and 11 games overall. Osasuna has some problems with injuries before this game and for that reason I see Real Madrid taking the points here.
